From 1995 to 2013, Binh Duong province is supported by Canadian Government to implement the Vietnam - Canada Environment project (VCEP) and Vietnam Provincial Environmental Governance Project (VPEG).

 

VCEP is implemented in 10 years (1995 - 2005) in polluted cities and provinces such as Ha Noi, Hai Phong Da Nang, and Binh Duong… VPEG technics are supported by Canadian Government with the objective of supporting the sustainable development in Vietnam and enhancing the environmental management capacity, specially industrial pollution management for Vietnam Environment Administration, cities and provinces including Binh Duong, Soc Trang, Long An, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, Da Nang, Quang Ninh and Hanoi.

 

According to Ms. Joan Freeman, Binh Duong province is the locality having remarkable achievements in management, environmental management, planning and vision… contributing to its extraordinary socio-economical achievements closely link to environmental protection. She hoped that many environmental projects will be conducted by Canadian Government and Binh Duong province.

 

On behalf of provincial authorities, Provincial People’s Council Vice Chairwoman Tran Thi Kim Van expressed her sincere thanks to Canadian Government for choosing Binh Duong province to deploy the project. Therefore, Binh Duong province is aware of the reverse of industrial development being environmental pollution and proposes timely the effective solutions for environmental protection. He affirmed that, the project implementation helps Binh Duong to enhance the environmental management capacity, proposes the strategic environmental protection plan for long term and mobilizes the participation of all levels in environmental protection activities.

 

During 4 years of VPEG participation, Binh Duong province conducted effective activities to deploy the Project such as: build the environmental protection plan of Binh Duong province in the period 2011 - 2015, propose and promulgate regulations on classifying businesses which comply with environmental regulations and declare the Binh Duong Green Book in 2011 and 2012, construct the information portal (Website) on industrial pollution management of businesses, hazardous waste management, wastewater charge declaration for environmental protection…
